A small village nestled in a valley, but something about it feels wrong. The houses are old and crooked, their wooden walls darkened by age and soot. Smoke rises from chimneys, but the streets are empty, and no sound comes from inside the homes. In the center of the village, there’s a well, its stones covered in moss and vines, and the water inside reflects a strange red glow. A narrow path leads from the well to a dense forest at the edge of the village, where the trees are so close together that they seem to form a wall. The forest floor is covered in a thick carpet of leaves, but there are strange markings scratched into the trunks of the trees—symbols and shapes that look almost like writing, but not in any language you know. Somewhere deeper in the forest, there’s a faint light, flickering like a flame, but it never seems to get closer.
